Sport and leisure

The Peninsula already has two major facilities for sports and leisure and as the Greenwich Peninsula community grows more sports and leisure facilities will be provided.

Greenwich Yacht Club was founded early in the 20th century by Thames sailors and now has over 400 members. The club was renovated in 1999 and benefits from a new clubhouse, classroom, boatyard, workshops and improved access to the river. It offers a wide variety of yachting and educational activities.

The David Beckham Academy opened in Autumn 2005 and includes two full size indoor pitches and a large pavilion. The Academy, targeted at all abilities, provides an exciting range of activities and resources aimed at developing footballing skills in boys and girls between 8 and15 years old.
